Bunch of Grapes has been on the island of Martha's Vineyard for over 40 years. Longtime store manager Molly Coogan and her husband, Brendan, purchased the business from Dawn Braasch in 2022. Molly and her family moved to the Vineyard in 2011 and she began working at Bunch of Grapes in 2013 as the events coordinator, though she was a lifelong customer of the store. Before moving to the Vineyard, Molly worked as an assistant editor at the Clark Art Institute in the Berkshires and, before that, in publishing in Boston and New York, so words on the page are something she knows well.
Dawn purchased the bookstore in 2008 from long-time owners the Nelson family whom she had worked for as an events coordinator, and she made it a priority to keep it on Main street in Vineyard Haven. After a fire damaged the store's inventory, furniture, and fixtures, Dawn kept it afloat by temporarily moving to another space. Since then, the store has changed locations a couple times, but has always remained in the heart of downtown Vineyard Haven, supplying visitors and locals with a great selection of books.
